There is still a tonne of imbalance issues and problems with BF2. Not new news, but good news. Let's hope they don't break anything in the process.

What would be nice is if they added something to make us come back, I actually haven't played BF2/2142 online for such a long time. I don't think the bugs are what's stopping me. Maybe a another new map? hopefully not to do with the desert for once... something green and pleasant with new objects! I’m thinking a small city area for the karkand lot of players sheltered from bombing runs, a decent airfield, TV tower helicopter pad, or something even more original like all those great map packs used to have.

Nothing new in that post. Same thing was said about 6 months ago. They just have not done it yet. And are telling us all that hey are working on it. 6 months is a heck of a long time for a "bug fix patch" I think. Lame that it's taking so long.

This patch is not their regular simple add new features, it's more of a hey we had to go back to the core of the client and server and rewrite and add a whole bunch of stuff and test hacks and cheats against our builds to see what they do, make sure they are not working anymore, etc.

I'm surprised they're still supporting BF2 but I am also surprised at the number of issues the game still has. Forgetting all the issues with the actual gameplay, I would adore it if they fix the damn server browser and provided widescreen support. I don't see either happening. |

They have to rewrite code in order to fix the problems.
There is no way around it, as many of them are exploits that are used because of problems with the code. They are probably going to stop some hacks but not all, as the graphic/memory type hacks will probably still work but others that exploit the client/server in other ways should not. |
