filming??

Ok, so my friends is really good, and a solid video man, problem is everyone else in our crew sucks at filming and while I'm improving as a cameraman, I'm still not great. We have a handheld video camera(haven't invested in a gopro yet) and it would be great if we could get some good footy for him since he is always making us look better than we are. For once it would be great to get some nice tracking shots of him shredding...so, anyone got any tips on becoming a better cameraman?
