this is a pretty old problem, but I just remembered I had the thing. I upgraded my computer a long time ago, and switched to a 250 GB SATA, now I had an IDE before, but couldn't it get to work as a secondary drive, I set the jumper on it to slave, and put it in the primary IDE slot on the motherboard, so...any ideas on why it wont work?(it shows up as a HD in my BIOS, but not in windows)

Well, just boot to a program that you can format with... I have a multiboot CD with a few hundred tools on it I use for this...
Your hdd should have come with a CD from the manufacturer that has formatting tools on it also.

Also
Control Panel -Administration Tools - Computer Management -Disk Management will get you the same tools in windows (xp at least)
You will be able to see if windows sees it or not via that, and if it is formatted.
