Is Two $50 DVD Burners Necessary?

Well, just by looking at it, I'd just keep one DVD drive, and I'd make the hard drive larger, say 500GB?
Other than that, it's a pretty sweet rig.

You only need one DVD Burner. Get one DVD Burner and one DVD Player.

He hasn't. The Australian exchange rate is £1 to $3AUS, and therefore $2US to $3AUS.

Personally wouldnt include mouse and keyboard in a pc budget, they can be purchased later (assuming you have something that will do for now. Its important you put as much cash as possible into the fundamental hardware rather than peripherals.

The 2nd DVD drive is somewhat a luxery, there is no reason a large second hard drive couldnt cope with the contents of a dvd (i know how those family snaps can soon mount up) to allow for copying.

Would not reccomend a AMD based board, especially now. The power consumption and overclockabilitity of AMD's current CPU's are not even close to matching Intels. Essentially, the Phenoms won't come close.

Buy an E8400 or a Q9450 with a P35 based board. Everything else looks fine. I own have those things. I would only recommend buying a Corsair HX-620 over the Silverstone. They're the top PSU's on the market and more than enough for that machine. A 550W Psu could easily handle that hardware provided it is an intel based machine.

May I ask where you are quoting from ? If you live in Australia like me, MSY would be the cheapest. I quoted these prices from Umart.

Logitech Z-5500 THX Digital Speakers System
Logitech G7 Cordless Laser Mouse
Western Digital 500G SATAII 7200 rpm HDD(16Mb Cache) x 2
DDR2 2048MB(2x1G)PC6400 800Mhz Blue Heatspreader 4-4-4-12 G.Skill
Zalman CNPS9700LED (Copper) CPU Cooler
Samsung 22 226BW
Corsair HX-620
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Refresh
Pioneer DVR-215BK 20x Dual Black OEM with software - SATA x 2
Gigabyte EP35-DS3P
Thermaltake Armor+
XFX GeForce 8800GTS 512M XXX
Intel ATX E8400 CORE 2 DUO

All up - $ 2811.

i think what u guys spend is actually to expensive. If i were to spend that much on a computer i would just have mine built by a company like dell with one of its xps series computers..wich are pretty nice indeed.

Also a lot less problems ;) (Pets my 420 with Quad Core and 8000GT + 3 gigs dual chan ram) All for 1k :D And if anything breaks, just send it back and get an updated version.

1. DON'T get the revised version of the G15. Get the old one, it has a bigger screen, more macros, and the only tradeoff, which is somewhat bad, is that ITS FLIPPIN HUGE!
2. Get a G5 mouse, not a G7. The G5 has a better bang for its buck. I was going to get one when I spyed me a G15 and bought it. The G7, well, I didn't really like it that much.
3. If you could, try to get the Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX, because its an 8800GTX Ultra amped up like hell. If your an extreme gamer, though, get dual 8800 GTX Ultras! They are better than a 9800 GX2!
4.Get a multi DVD/CD Player/Burner, I had one in my laptop, its nothing short of both a player and a burner! And that was a laptop one! It will save you more $$!
5. Get the Phenoms, they are better in my opinion. I've had an Intel and an AMD, a Celeron Vs a Mobile Atholon 64 X2! Guess what? THE MOBILE ATHOLON WON!

That's what I have to say! PM me if you want links! I have too much time without having BF2 on the family PC and my new laptop coming shortly.

Are you seriously comparing a cheap single-core budget processor to a dual-core 64-bit processor, and basing your decision off the fact that the dual-core processor won?! :huh

One thing you have overlooked, it was a mobile processer, and by the way, the Celeron was desktop, with 2.4 Ghz, 1mb cache, while AMD Atholon had only 1.7 GHz, and X2 256kb cache. And the laptop it was being compared to was tottal crp, ultra cheap, and made up of cheap grey plastic, on the market for quite a few years, being that it was an acer aspire 4 series, and the latest is the 7 series 0.o. And, it was 2 years old! Meanwhile, a Dell (something, it didn't say) which had 2 years on it, but still in great condition, barely was past the Loading windows XP screen when the vista desktop on the laptop popped up. That, my sir,(Sir, get it?) is what you overlooked. No offense though, i'm quite bored at the moment. I've had to do quite pitful things.:thumbs down:

And for the record, it was not 64 bit, it was a mobile 64 series, which is equivalent to a 4 series AMD Dektop processer!

Still, you're basing your decision on old hardware. 2 years ago, the A64 was the undisputed king. But shortly afterwards, the Core 2 Duo beat the **** out of it and stole its girlfriend. AMD is still struggling to match Intel's latest processors.

Ok, I don't want to mess with you. You ARE the Sandbox king, you should know it! I haven't had any new processers in a while. 0.o

<S> Sir.Elxx, I don't want to be frowned upon by you.
